| The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course is an entry-level certification course designed to give you the necessary skills to safely conduct open water dives. Some of the many skills you will learn include buoyancy, proper weighting, marine conservation, equipment assembly, proper dive planning, and maintenance. The course covers all the basic knowledge about equipment, physiology and the marine environment while training students to perform basic skills underwater. This course is the key to start exploring dive destinations around the globe or just in your backyard. |
Premium (Home Study-Lecture) Open Water Diver Program:
Minimum age for Open Water Diver is 10
Open Water Diver Training Program: To become a certified open water diver (scuba diver) you must complete a two-phase training program listed below. Minimum age for Open Water Diver is 10, (Children must be able able to swim and follow directions well).
Premium Pool Training: (Phase one)
All classes are not equal. With our Premium lessons you will receive the most thorough and current scuba training available. The premium lessons are private (one on one) training, they include unlimited pools, and there is no rush to get yet you through. Unlike other courses that may exclude the lecture portion of your training, do large group pools sessions, recycle you into another class if you get left behind, or simply not train in the latest scuba gear with dive computers. Premium lessons offer all of the above.
We combine the home study, lecture and pool training at your own pace. First you study via a home study kit, then schedule two individual lecture sessions. Next you will be required to do a minimum of four pool sessions. These pools can be set up around your busy schedule at any of the three pools we use.
The cost for this portion of your training is $299.00 per student, $269.00 each additional. This fee includes a logbook, pool sessions, BC, computer, and tank rental, no deposit required. In addition each student is required to either purchase a Mask, Fins, and Snorkel package from Blue Wave Scuba, or rent a package for $30.00. Upon completion of the pool training, and open water training course (additional charge see below) you will be issued a permanent Certification Card from SDI.
Open Water Training: (Phase two)
Open water training includes: four open water dives, done at a local lake, or during a store sponsored trip*. Included in the cost are scuba cylinder rental, regulator rental, computer rental, buoyancy compensator rental, wetsuit hood and glove rental, and a certification card for open water diver. In addition each student is required to either purchase a Mask, Fins, and Snorkel package from Blue Wave Scuba, or rent a package for $30.00.
Students must rent or purchase mask, fins, and snorkel from Blue Wave Scuba.

* There would be an additional charge for Open Waters at Crosby, or Lake Wazee. If done on vacation, there is a $25.00 referral fee. Upon return from the vacation they can order a certification card for $35.00, if one was not provided.
